
Thai Baht is the currency of Thailand. There are several types of banknotes and coins in Baht but here are some common types of Baht we can see everyday.
Banknotes of Thai Baht
General Thai Banknotes being used today (as of 2017) is series 16th which have been released since 2010. The front of every banknote is the figure of King Bhumibol Adulyadej in the uniform of the supreme commander of the armed forces and different in the back of the note.
20 Baht Banknote
Issued in 2003, 20 Baht banknote is green and has the lowest amount among banknotes. In the reverse side bares the picture of King Rama 8. This banknote is widely used in daily routine.
50 Baht Banknote
Issued in 2004, 50 Baht banknote is blue with the picture of King Rama 4 on the back of the note.
100 Baht Banknote
100 Baht banknote is red. Like 20 banknote, it is commonly use in daily routine like buying food or shopping.
500 Baht Banknote
Issued on 1 Aug 2001, 500 Baht banknote is purple. It has the picture on the back of King Rama 5 and 6.
1000 Baht Banknote
Issued in 2005, 1000 Bath banknote is the most expensive banknote in Thai Baht. It has grey color with King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Pa Sak Jolasid Dam on the back.
Coins of Thai baht
1 Baht Coin
Made from nickel-plated steel, 1 Baht Coin is very small coin with King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Wat Pra Kaew figure on both side. It has 2 versions whose latest version was issued in 2008.
2 Baht Coin
The latest version of 2 Thai Baht coin is released in 2005. It is nickel-plated low-carbon steel with 21.75mm diameter. The figures on the coin are King Bhumibol Adulyadej on one side and Wat Saket on the other side like 1 Baht coin.
5 Baht Coin
Made from Cupronickel clad copper, 5 Thai Baht coin is the second large with 24 mm diameter. The lasted version with are King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Wat Benchamabophit figures is issued in 2008. This is mostly used coin in daily routine.
10 Baht Coin
10 Baht coin is the largest and most valuable among Thai baht coins. It is round and made of two different parts which are center and ring. For the center, it is made of aluminium bronze and cupronickel is made for the ring. The figure on the coin is King Bhumibol Adulyadejand famous Wat Arun Temple. The latest version of 10 Baht coin is issued in 2008 like many of the above.
In addition of coins for Thai Baht, 25 Satang Coin and 50 Satang Coin are also being used but not so widely because they are very small amount (100 Satang equals to 1 Baht). Thai People normally use them for Bangkok red bus fare (6.5 Baht) or in the convenient store and department store.
